研究簡介:
(興趣一):發炎反應在許多疾病的病程演進中扮演重要的致病角色。例如,發炎細胞激素會活化黏著分子表現、誘導趨化激素生成、增加趨化運動,引發白血球的聚集及浸潤,這個致病機制與動脈粥樣硬化或是呼吸道病毒感染引起的發炎細胞浸潤,有密不可分的關連,而藉由抑制黏著反應、趨化激素生成、或是趨化運動,可以有效控制發炎反應的惡化並改善相關疾病。
(興趣二):不論是更年期(停經期)或是外傷骨折,由於雌激素的減少間接使免疫系統失衡、或是直接的發炎刺激,均會明顯提高蝕骨細胞的活性而增加骨吸收作用;反之,發炎細胞激素會促進造骨細胞死亡,而減少骨生成作用,最後結果導致骨質流失及骨密度降低,因此抑制發炎誘發的蝕骨細胞活化或造骨細胞死亡、或藉由直接刺激造骨新生作用,可阻止骨質進一步流失、提高骨密度、並改善骨質疏鬆。本研究室的目標是在抗發炎的學理基礎下,從中草藥及天然物中找尋及開發出有效的治療藥物或保健食品。
