[News] : A New Chapter in Taiwan-India Traditional Medicine Exchange: Memorandum of Understanding Signed to Establish an Ayurveda Chair at the National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine

India, as one of the focus countries in our New Southbound Policy, has been continuously cooperating with Taiwan in the field of traditional medicine. In order to further deepen and promote the culture and knowledge of traditional medicine in both countries, a Memorandum of Understanding on “THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN “ACADEMIC CHAIR” IN AYURVEDA at National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine, Ministry of Health and Welfare” was signed on 24th June, 2024, at the "Double Tenth Joint conference of IASTAM and ASHM” in Taipei. The memorandum was signed by Representative Baushuan Ger of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India via video conference and Director General Manharsinh Yadav of the India Taipei Association, who attended the meeting in person.

Following the signing of this memorandum, an Ayurveda Chair will be established at the National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine. The Chair, jointly selected by Taiwan and India, will be based in Taiwan for three years and will jointly plan Ayurveda academic and research activities with the National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine, design short-term/mid-term courses related to Ayurveda, and assist in promoting research and innovation in traditional medical systems of both countries.

Ayurveda and the health care industry in India are deeply integrated, which coincides with the direction of our country's promotion of traditional Chinese medicine combined with health care and preventive medicine industries. In the future, under the cooperation of both sides, it is expected to learn from each other's advantages and development experiences in traditional medicine, and jointly promote the development of national health and welfare and the medical industry.
