Research Description
In the face of modern medical dilemma, asking for advice on the nature has become an important trend. Natural product is biological diversity, is also in possession of chemical diversity. Natural products include many classes of compounds such as terpenoids, polyketides, alkaloids, flavonoids, peptides, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acid bases, ribonucleic acid (RNA), deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), and so forth. In the battle against the new disease or improving on medical benefits, the results of natural product studies often draw a cheer. Like the promotion microvascular blood flow of Ginkgo biloba extract, the antimalarial Artemisinin, the anticancer Taxol, the anti-inflammatory Andrographolides, the anti-depression Hypericine, etc., are all examples of successes. The goals of this laboratory are to purify and characterize of bioactive molecules from medicinal plants. In addition, preparative study and quality control of bioactive molecules have also been explored.
