Research Description
The majority of cancer deaths are caused by metastases, not by orthotopic tumors. Therefore, understanding the mechanism of tumor metastasis and effective inhibition of tumor metastasis are recognized as a very important issue in cancer treatment. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are implicated in the promotion of tumor metastasis by protecting metastatic cancerous cells from immune surveillance and have thus been suggested as novel targets for cancer therapy. Research in our laboratory is focused on
(1) Elucidating the mechanism of tumor-induced differentiation of MDSCs and the role of MDSCs in tumor microenvironment and metastasis.
(2) Identifying master genes or signaling pathways in response to immunosuppression in MDSCs for targeted therapy.
(3) Developing anti-metastasis activity of Chinese and herbal medicines and their biotechnology applications.
(4) Assistance to editoral work of Journal of Chinese Medicine and integration of digital archives of Chinese medicine literatures
