RESEARCH INTEREST:
Our group focuses on the discovery of small molecule natural products and the application of enzymes involved in their biosynthetic pathways, including:

  1. Biologically active compounds purification and identification;
  2. Natural products chemistry, including biosynthetic pathways of secondary metabolites according to their biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) by using bioinformatics analyses, and deduction of enzyme functions and mechanisms;
  3. Discover uncharacterized small-molecules/enzymes in microbiomes by combining protein sequence similarity network (SSN) analysis with metagenomics;
  4. Computational simulation of small molecule‒protein interactions and mechanistic insight from crystal structure of small molecule‒protein complexes.
